Practice and theory go hand-in-hand, and for the majority of his professional and academic career, Aaron Thuringer has studied social media from both angles.
Professionally, Aaron started working with social media in late 2007, while it was still an “experimental” field. He was fascinated by its practical applications and when it became mainstream in early 2009, he knew he had found what he wanted to do with his life.
In 2009, Aaron pursued a Masters degree, studied and applied communication theories to help better define what social media was. Most of his academic work in social media was focused on political communication.
While pursuing the degree, Aaron worked in the Creative Services department of the Phoenix PBS station, Eight/KAET, and helped brand the station across different online media.
Aaron graduated with an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University.
